CITY OF SOUTHPORT SELECTS FLINT AS NEW FINANCE DIRECTOR
Southport, NC – The City of Southport is pleased to announce a new Finance Director, to begin work on September 19, 2023. Mr. Lance Flint will be joining the City of Southport staff to lead the Finance Department after tenures with the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority in Wilmington, NC, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) in Washington, DC.
Mr. Flint is a Finance Executive with many years of in-depth experience leading finance teams that are focused on operational excellence and improving the bottom-line. Some of Flint’s successful projects include formulating a creative compensation strategy for Parisian’s department store sales force; designing a new proprietary system for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority; and building a shared financial services organization at Books-A-Million.
City Manager Bonnie Therrien is very pleased to welcome Lance to the Team and knows he will assist the current employees with improving the way we do business, lead the team to look at new software options for financial tasks, and continue the work that has already begun to develop policies and procedures. Mr. Flint will be jumping right into things on the 19th as the Yearly Audit will be beginning, so he will quickly become acquainted with all the City’s financial books. The recommendations given for Mr. Flint were outstanding.
