2023 Brunswick County Tax Bill Information will be delivered soon. More information from Brunswick County can be found here.

Depending on where your property is located, you might receive one combined bill for both your county and municipal taxes. The Brunswick County Tax Office is responsible for collecting taxes in the following municipalities: Bald Head Island, Belville, Boiling Spring Lakes, Bolivia, Calabash, Carolina Shores, Caswell Beach, Leland, Navassa, Northwest, Sandy Creek, Shallotte, Southport, St. James, Sunset Beach, and Varnamtown.

Brunswick County does not collect taxes for the towns of Holden Beach, Oak Island, or Ocean Isle Beach. Check with these towns directly for information on how you will receive your municipal property tax bill.

If your property is served by any other public entity or district, you might also see their taxes or fees on your bill. This includes fire fees, hospital taxes, etc. Check with these entities directly for questions about their taxes or fees.

Tax bills for 2023 are due and payable on Sept. 1, 2023, and can be paid without interest through Jan. 5, 2024.

After Jan. 5, 2024, a 2% interest is added to the bill. If still unpaid by Feb. 1, 2024, a 0.75% interest is added for each additional month the bill remains delinquent.

Brunswick County recently conducted a revaluation (also known as a reappraisal), which is a routine update to property tax values to bring them back in line with the current market value of properties, as required by North Carolina law. Brunswick County conducts revaluations every four years.

The successful completion of the 2023 Revaluation was a key factor in Brunswick County’s ability to set a responsible and realistic county tax rate of 0.3420 (34.20 cents per $100) for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24), which began on July 1, 2023.

Brunswick County’s FY24 tax rate is projected to be the fifth lowest tax rate out of North Carolina’s 100 counties. Brunswick County was tied for 11th in the state in FY23 with the previous rate of 0.4850.

With this rate, nearly half of all Brunswick County property owners are anticipated to either see a reduction in their FY24 county tax bill or an increase of only $5 or less compared to the prior year.

If you live in an incorporated area, your tax bill will also include your municipal tax due to your town or city. It might also include any taxes or fees for other public entities that serve your property.

You are encouraged to contact these organizations or view their adopted FY24 budgets to learn more about how their property tax rates or fees may impact your tax bill. See a full list of current and historical tax rates countywide at brunswickcountync.gov/tax-office/rates.

You can find your property’s latest assessed value on the Tax Office’s online Property and Tax Information Database. The department’s Property Record Card search tool also allows users to see the latest data on market values and sales for your property and other properties in your area.
