FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CITY OF SOUTHPORT

Southport Summer Market applications are now open

The City of Southport is pleased to announce that applications for the highly anticipated Southport Summer Market are now open.

The Southport Summer Market, sponsored by the City of Southport, is a place for local growers and crafters to sell their goods directly to consumers, fostering community engagement and interaction.

Acknowledging the limitation of available space, the City expresses gratitude for finding a viable solution that allows residents and visitors alike to enjoy the tradition initiated by Downtown Southport, Inc. Despite the reduced number of vendors compared to previous years, the Summer Markets promise an atmosphere filled with charm and local flair. The Market Committee will carefully review and approve vendors, ensuring a diverse array of products. To apply as a vendor, please apply here: cityofsouthport.com/southport-summer-market.

The Southport Summer Market will run every Wednesday from the first Wednesday of May until the last Wednesday in August, excluding the week of the Fourth of July. Operating from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, vendors can set up between 6:30 am and 9:00 am. Please note that vehicles are prohibited in Franklin Square Park or the adjoining grassy areas for set up or breakdown.

The market operates rain or shine unless determined otherwise by the Market Committee due to hazardous weather conditions. Sellers are encouraged to stay for the entire duration of the market to maximize community engagement. Vendors play a crucial role in maintaining a positive atmosphere, and non-compliance with rules and regulations may result in exclusion from the market.

Spaces are assigned by the Market Manager, ensuring fairness among vendors. Vendors must arrive on time, and latecomers risk losing their assigned space for the day. Vendors are responsible for their display equipment, and canopies, tents, or umbrellas are encouraged. Cleanliness is key, and vendors are expected to clean up their assigned spaces at the end of each market day.

Southport encourages all residents and visitors to join in supporting local vendors and savoring the unique charm that the Summer Markets bring to the heart of the city. Let’s make this summer a memorable one in Southport!
