Traffic Statement
Southport, NC – Due to the torrential rain and devasting road collapses from the September 16, 2024, storms and rainfall, Highway 87/River Road is currently the only road into and out of Southport.
The City of Southport and Southport Police Department are aware of the traffic issues and are with Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Highway Patrol working to find viable, long-term solutions until our roads are reopened.
To help mitigate some of the traffic, please adjust regular travel times where able, limit any unnecessary and miscellaneous travel into and out of Southport, and do not travel at peak times, if possible.
