Southport Winterfest Flotilla Celebrates 30th Year of Lighting Up the Waterfront

Southport, NC – The enchanting Southport Winterfest Flotilla, now in its 30th year, is set to illuminate the waterfront on Saturday, December 14th, commencing at 5 p.m. This cherished tradition, sponsored by Cape Fear Yacht Club, Downtown Southport, Inc., and the City of Southport, promises a dazzling display of Christmas lights reflecting off the serene waters.

Registration for participants is open until November 27th, 2024. Organizers encourage all captains to attend the mandatory Captains Meeting on December 9th at 10 a.m. at the Frying Pan Restaurant 319 West Bay Street, Southport. The parade procedure, including the lineup, staging, and route details, has been meticulously planned to ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience for all participants and spectators.

Residents and visitors alike are invited to bring chairs and blankets to the Southport Waterfront. The flotilla route will showcase an array of vessels, from Old American Fish upriver along the city waterfront to Deep Point Marina. The flotilla will turn around at Deep Point and parade back along the waterfront into the Intra-Coastal Waterway past Southport Morning Star Marina ending at St. James Plantation Marina entrance. Individual boats to return to their dockage area from St James Plantation Marina.

Students from the Southport Elementary School Art Program will serve as judges, evaluating the sail, power, and paddle boats participating in the flotilla.
