Southport, NC – A new way to share your love for Southport is hitting the road! Starting Friday, July 11, 2025, pre-orders will open for the official Southport, North Carolina Specialty License Plate.

Whether you’re a local, frequent visitor, or just love the charm of our coastal city, this specialty plate is a unique way to represent Southport wherever you go.

Plate Options & Pricing:

  • $30 for a standard Southport specialty plate
  • $60 for a customized specialty plate (personalized text/numbers, up to four characters)

Please note: customizations are first-come, first-served, so don’t wait if you have a message in mind!

Pre-Order Requirements:

  • A minimum of 500 pre-orders is required before our application package can be sent to the NC General Assembly for approval and NC Division of Motor Vehicles for production.
  • Plates are available for North Carolina-registered, non-commercial vehicles, including golf carts.

How to Order:
Interested drivers may pre-order and pay via cash or check in-person at Southport City Hall, 1029 N. Howe Street, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM. A pre-order form will be provided at City Hall or can be downloaded at https://cityofsouthport.com/southport-license-plate/.
