NCLM President Selects Legislative Policy Committee
Group to Lead in Development of Statewide Policy Goals

(RALEIGH, N.C.) – The North Carolina League of Municipalities has announced the membership of its latest Legislative Policy Committee, which will lead its policy development process into the next legislative biennium.

The committee will be led by co-chairs Mayor Jessica Day of Knightdale and Mayor Bill Dusch of Concord. NCLM President and Durham Mayor Pro-Tem Mark-Anthony Middleton announced the appointments to the 65-member committee this week.

“Service on the Legislative Policy Committee is crucial to ensuring that the policy goals of the League of Municipalities are representative of the broad array of North Carolina cities and towns, and the needs of their residents,” Middleton said. “By having wide representation of municipalities, big and small, from the mountains to the coast, we know that state leaders will see that these priorities reflect the aims of a cross section of North Carolinians. We are truly grateful to enjoy the participation of these local leaders who understand the challenges facing their communities and those of the entire state.”

Directing NCLM’s Legislative Goals development process, committee members review and vet policy proposals from across the League’s full membership. After review by the NCLM Board of Directors, and a final vote by member cities and towns, the aim is an advocacy agenda that is both focused and reflects the priorities of all the state’s municipalities.
