The Brunswick County Black History Symposium Committee, in conjunction with the City of Southport, the Brunswick Arts Council, the NC Arts Council, and the Southport Historical Society, proudly presents the 14th Annual Black History Symposium in Southport. Saturday will feature four presentations honoring our past and inspiring our future.

3:00PM – Jessie Mae Monroe, The Journey of an Orphaned Girl Who Became a Renowned Educator in Brunswick County
4:30PM – Navassa: A Legacy of Community in One of the First Black Incorporated Communities in Brunswick County
