The Summer I Turned Pretty on Amazon Prime 

While articles are naming Wilmington as the main star in the new coming-of-age series, the Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han, Southport residents may notice about 7 minutes into the opening episode that “Cousins Beach” is set right here in Southport. 

Film crews were permitted in August of 2021 to film the setting scenes to establish Cousins Beach using aerial shots. Some of the areas they were permitted to use were the Southport City Dock, S. Bay St., Brunswick St., S. Davis St, and E. Moore St. Film crews are currently in talks with City Staff to permit again in August of 2022.
