SOUTHPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE

Southport, NC – After a lengthy investigation, detectives with the Southport Police Department obtained warrants to arrest at least one person believed to be responsible for the poisoning of a reported 33 year old victim.

Katrina Joan York of Southport was arrested on 10/3/2023 and charged with 3 counts of Contaminating Food/Drink with a Controlled Substance and misdemeanor Larceny.  She was placed in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $10,000 bond.

The incident took place in the 1200 block of N. Howe Street in Southport.  There, officers say, Katrina “Tina” York injected controlled substances into the victim’s drink.  These events occurred over three separate dates.  Other evidence recovered also pointed officers to York in the theft of a cell phone belonging to the victim.
