Fire Department Clerk


The City of Southport has an opening in the Fire Department.  The Fire Department Clerk is a full-time permanent position in the Fire Department.

The immediate supervisor for this position is the Fire Chief.  The person in this position is supervised daily regarding briefings and task assignments. The person in this position works autonomously, conferring daily with his/her immediate supervisor.

The person in this position works regular hours during the week, also working two to three times a month attending various training/business meetings of the department held in the evenings.

The employee will perform duties for the Southport Fire Department as related to office, clerical duties, fire suppression, and emergency medical responses as directed by the Fire Chief.  The employee may be required to assist on Fire and EMS calls, as needed.  The full duties and responsibilities of this position are on file, will be given upon request.

A High School diploma or GED is required and experience in clerical work and inventory is preferred.

Must possess a valid NC driver’s license, receive and maintain a CPR certification, Firefighter/EMT certification preferred, or must be obtained within 18 months.

Annual salary is $31,200.00 plus full benefits with retirement and health insurance.
