Due to the COVID-19, I have recommended cancellation of large events in our city. This includes the Southport Day of Service. It will be rescheduled depending on the activity of this pandemic. It is important to do everything we can to mitigate the spread of the disease, from good hand washing to social distancing.
Joe Pat Hatem MD, MPH
Mayor City of Southport
The 4th Annual Southport Day of Service highlights Southport’s selfless volunteer spirit. The City of Southport Beautification Committee is partnering with Trinity United Methodist Church, the Southport Oak Island Interchurch Fellowship, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Southport citizens have a lot of pride in their town, and with an all-out community effort, the possibilities for success are limitless. Anyone interested is encouraged to participate. Volunteers will gather at Trinity United Methodist Church, 209 E. Nash Street, at 8 a.m., for registration, group assignment and breakfast. Upon completion of projects, lunch will be offered to all helpers. More information (910) 457-7927.
