Commemorate Juneteenth at the John N Smith Cemetery

Juneteenth

Join local Southport residents as they talk about their ancestors who helped make Southport a better place to live. 

The John N. Smith Cemetery, the largest African American cemetery in Brunswick County, will host a public gathering on June 19, 2021, at 2:00 in recognition of JUNETEENTH. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.

2 pm. 225 E. Leonard Street in Southport, across from the Lowe-White Park. Free. All are welcome.

This presentation is coordinated and sponsored by the John N Smith Restoration and Preservation, Inc.
