COVID-19 FOCUS: Getting Your Vaccine

Today’s COVID-19 Focus is on Getting Your Vaccine.

We want to keep you up to date on the process for getting a COVID-19 vaccine in Brunswick County. Following is the latest guidance from the Brunswick County Department of Health. Supplies are still limited, but understanding your options brings you one step closer to getting your vaccine.

Who is Eligible Today

NC is currently in “Phase 1B” of distribution. This means that the free vaccination is available to anyone over the age of 75, regardless of health condition.  Vaccination Phases

Scheduling an Appointment for Vaccination

Per the Brunswick County Department of Heath, there are currently two ways to make an appointment to be vaccinated:

By Phone:

Eligible individuals and/or their representatives are strongly encouraged to follow these instructions to schedule an appointment beginning Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 9 a.m.:

  • Call the Public Health Call Line at 910.253.2339 and select the option for vaccine information
  • Listen to the prompt and then select the option to enter the queue to schedule an appointment (as vaccine supply allows)

The health department will only take calls to schedule appointments Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Requiring appointments under Phase 1b Group 1 will ensure the health department has a vaccine available for that person and keeps more vulnerable members of the population from waiting in lines.

Due to the increasingly high number of calls and emails it receives daily, Health Services will not schedule appointments for vaccines it has not yet received from the state nor can it provide call backs when more are available.

If appointments are full when you call (all of the currently available vaccines are allotted) you will need to call and try again at a later date.

Signing up Online for a MyChart Account:

In adherence with state guidelines, Novant Health, Dosher Memorial Hospital and Brunswick County Health Services are encouraging community members, ages 75 and older, who are interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine to sign up for a MyChart account. Community members eligible at this time for a vaccination will be notified through their MyChart account, through which they can then schedule their vaccination appointment. Recipients do not need to be affiliated with a specific healthcare system to sign up for MyChart or to receive a vaccination.

Due to limited vaccine availability, vaccinations will be by appointment only and at a centralized location in Brunswick County.
