City of Southport State of Emergency Proclamation

The City of Southport has declared a State of Emergency effective at 9am, Monday, August 03, 2020 in regard to the approaching Tropical Storm Isaias. With this declaration, a curfew has been instituted at 6pm, Monday, August 03, 2020 for the entire City of Southport. At 3pm, Monday August 03, 2020 Bay Street, Brunswick Street, and Yacht Basin Drive will be closed from Kingsley Park to the Southport Marina, and all City Parks and Offices as well.

The current track of Tropical Storm Isaias makes landfall early Tuesday Morning August 04, 2020 near Calabash, NC. This means that the Southport Area will experience the strongest part of the storm. Some strengthening has been forecast, and that is the reason that our area is currently under a HURRICANE WARNING. Your emergency plans should be set and in place at this point. Tropical Storm force winds and heavy rains will begin around 6pm today.
