BUILDING INSPECTOR/CODES ADMINISTRATOR

BUILDING INSPECTOR/CODES ADMINISTRATOR: City of
Southport is seeking applicants to work in the Planning & Inspections
Department performing technical and administrative work in the
issuance of permits and inspections of new construction and renovation
projects to ensure compliance with State building codes; enforce zoning
codes, CAMA and flood plain regulations, and other local codes and
ordinances. Applicant must be able to perform medium work exerting
up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force
constantly to move objects, visual acuity to work with data and figures,
operate a computer terminal, use measurement devices, and perform
building inspection tasks.

Applicant must have graduated from a
community college with course work in building trades and
considerable experience in the building construction industry and
enforcement of code standards; or an equivalent combination of
education and experience. Preference given to those with contractors
license.

Applicant must have a valid NC driver’s license, State
certification as a Building Inspector in the trades areas of electrical,
mechanical, building, and plumbing at Level 1 or Probationary
certification.

Salary Range $46,354 to 69,531.
