Dorothy Dutton, City Clerk, has accepted the promotion to Assistant City Manager. She will also remain as City Clerk. Dorrie has over ten years of experience in local government, including tax collection, permitting, planning/zoning, and administration, and states, “For years I vacationed at Oak Island and always spent time strolling around Southport. After serving as the City Clerk and Development Administrator in the Town of Carthage for several years, I saw the position in Southport available. I took a leap of faith, and it paid off! I love Southport and am so fortunate to be a part of the team. I am so excited about my new role and look forward to continuing to serve the community.” City Manager Therrien states, “Dorrie has worked tirelessly for the City of Southport and knows the projects and workings of Southport inside and out. She will be a great asset to the City and myself as we tackle the myriad of projects that we have ongoing. I know she will do a terrific job!”
