NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The public will take notice that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Southport has called a Public Hearing at 6:00 p.m. on August 11, 2022, at the City of Southport Community Building located at 223 E. Bay Street to discuss the possible annexation of the following described properties requested by a petition filed pursuant to N.C.G.S. 160A-31:

Being a portion of that tract of land located in Smithville Township, Brunswick County, State of North Carolina; also known as a portion of Tract 1 and Tract 2 (Parcel ID: 22100028 and 221NA008) owned by Vanguard Farms, Inc., as shown in Deed Book 3499, Page 1040 of the Brunswick County Register of Deeds; said parcel being more particularly described as follows:

Thence with the westerly line of Lot 7 of Vanguard Farms, Inc., S 01°03’38” E – 232.11 feet to an iron rod found;
Thence with line of Tract 2 of Vanguard Farms, Inc., the following courses: S 89°07’59” W – 19.81 feet to a point;
N 01°06’31” W – 232.03 feet to a point;
S 89°27’11” W – 60.39 feet to a point;
S 01°09’18” E – 232.64 feet to a point;
S 88°56’22” W – 20.00 feet to an iron rod found at the northeast corner of Lot 9 of Smithville Woods.
Thence with the northerly line of Smithville Woods – Section 1, N 01°03’38” W – 232.11 feet to an iron pipe found at the southeastern corner of Lot 6 of Smithville Woods – Section 1-B (Map Cabinet 18, Page 8);
Thence with the line of Smithville Woods – Section 1-B, the following courses: S 88°56’20” W – 233.99 feet to an iron rod found;
N 01°07’18” W – 199.96 feet to an iron rod found; N 47°15’48” W – 375.97 feet to an iron rod found; S 81°33’57” W – 468.65 feet to an iron rod found on the easterly line of Marsh Creek Subdivision.
Thence with the easterly line of Marsh Creek Subdivision, N 00°33’52” W – 637.25 feet to an iron rod found.
Said iron rod found is the Principal Place of Beginning for this description.
Having an area of 1,114,802 square feet or 25.59 acres.
