A multi-agency fire drill will take place at the Southport Marina on Tuesday, February 15, in the evening from 6 pm – 9 pm.

The drill will involve, Southport Fire Department as the lead agency and will simulate a large vessel fire at the fuel dock with an explosion.  This will give the department the opportunity to utilize all the new fire department connections and new safety mechanisms that have been installed with the remodel.  It will also assist us with training requirements for ISO purposes with the NC Department of Insurance with our mutual aid companies. The hydrant system in the area will be utilized for water supply. Several Fire Departments have been invited to attend, including Oak Island, St James, Boiling Spring Lakes, Sunny Point, and Sunset Harbor.  This should cause no traffic problems, all units will be inside the Marina facility.
